Logie Award-winning Australian comedy, Kath & Kim has won fans the world over with its humourous take on life in the suburbs. Starring Jane Turner as Kath, and Gina Riley as Kim, Kath’s daughter, the show follows their relationship and day to day dramas in fictional town, Fountain Lakes in Melbourne.

Kath Day-Knight is a divorcee in her 50s newly married to husband Kel Knight (Glenn Robbins). Kath’s 20-something daughter, Kim Craig is married to husband Brett Craig (Peter Rowsthorn), who is the father her daughter Epponnee Rae. Magda Szubanski also makes notable appearances as Sharon Strzelecki, Kim’s netball-loving “second best friend”.

Kath and Kim are well known for their bad taste in clothes and trademark phrases such as “Look at moiy” and “It’s noiyce, different and unusual”. They have also been known to mock Australian politics and popular culture, with Kath famously exclaiming “That bloody Howard!” in reference to the introduction of Work Choices. Kath & Kim also spawned a telemovie in 2005 titled Da Kath & Kim Code, which poked fun at Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

Kath & Kim has enjoyed critical and ratings success since its commencement in 2002; at first with ABC from 2002 to 2005 and then with Channel Seven from 2007 to present. The show has won three Logie Awards; Most Outstanding Comedy Program in 2003 and 2004 and Most Popular Light Entertainment Program in 2008.
