Default Have I been given too much?

Thanks for all the feedback on here, it was really helpful - and made me feel more at ease taking this stuff. I've been on it 5 days and only last night did I get my first sleep in that time. The thing is, I'm not dramatically overweight. I'm 5'9 (quite tall) and hadn't quite made it to 70kg (150ish lbs). I'm a little chubby but I've been given 6 months worth of Duromine (at $70 a packet!) and am wondering whether you think perhaps I've been overprescribed? My doctor said I'd lose a kilo a month - so 6 kilos overall - but its been 5 days and I've already lost over 2 kilos. I've never really been on any long-term medication before and these are definitely taking their toll - my heart is thundering in my chest as I write this. Any contribution would be a great help

Default My first day..

I started my first day on Duromine today. I set my alarm to take my pill at 7am, because I heard if you take it any later it is hard to sleep. I did 40 minutes of cardio exercise in the morning, then went for a powerwalk for about an hour tonight. I dont have any side effects yet? I have not been hungry all day, I ate a small breakfast and normally once I finish exercising I am hungry, but I wasnt. I am 78kg and 159cm. My friend told me she went on Duramine and had no side effects but lost 13kgs in a month. When I went to the doctor for a prescription he tested my BMI and told me I was 16kg overweight and I am in the Obsese range. That was a huge shock and made me quite upset. I realised I was big, but never thought 'OBESE.' I am very dedicated to loosing weight since I have heard that and believe Duramine will be a huge help, hopefully. I am a bit scared though, about the side effects that people have experienced. I will keep posting!

I think that you will find duromine used to be made with amphetamines but now its not ( at least in australia anyway) can't remember what the main ingredient is now, but it’s alot safer and doesn’t mess with your head as much if at all.

Does anyone no if you can get it with out a prescription? or of another suppresant tahts effective that you don't need to be prescribed?

Default Duromine - My experience

Hi All,
I just wanted to share my experience with Duromine.
I have been on Duromine 40mg for 2 months.
My doctor prescribed it for me as I had gained alot of weight with pill (contreceptive) and was unable to take the weight off no matter how much I exercised.
I also have epstein barr, which means some weeks I am too tired to do anything. My doctor thought Duromine would give me the "energy" and the kick start I needed to exercise more.
I had heard a lot of bad stuff about duromine, but I thought I'd give it a go as everyone's experiences are different. My first months supply cost me $120 (AUD)... Expensive!
The first time I took it, I got the dry mouth, couldn't stop talking and felt like i was floating on clouds.. I couldn't sleep at all that first night, and even the next day I felt like I still had too much energy. So I didn't take another one on the second day.
Since that first day, I realised that Duromine isn't something I needed to take everyday. I didn't want to get addicted (which happens with this drug) and I didnt want to have to rely on it for my weight loss.
I wanted to be smart about it.
Some people take this drug for 3 months straight without eating on it... Then they dont understand why they gain the weight back after?? Duromines speeds up your metabolism, so when you don't eat on it you'll no doubt ruin your metabolism when you get off it and your hunger will come back.
What I found worked best for me?
I used Duromine as an opportunity to change my lifestyle and my eating habits. Since you don't get hungry on Duromine, I used this opportunity to eat smaller, healther meals. And yes, I had to force myselft to eat as I wasn't hungry on them.
The days I went to the gym (3 days per week) I took Duromine in the mornings to give me the energy. The other days I didn't take them, I watched what I ate.
3 months on I have lost 7kg and the weight has come off slowly, which means I have a better chance of maintaining my weight. By only taking the duromine 3 days per week, my first months dose lasted me 2 months....
Now I feel like I dont need to take them anymore because now that i have changed my lifestyle and eating habits, I can't stomach greasy foods anymore.
I think Duromine is great... If used for the right reasons and not for a quick fix weight loss solution.
There are no quick fixes!

I have passed two month treatment with Duromine 30mg.

I am happy, my weight is normal now, I feel confident and healthy. I bought Duromine at http://duromineonline.com, it helped to save huge money.

Be healthly, be happy!

I'm sorry to say this but I think its an excuse, you don't need the drug to help you eat less, and exercise. I don't take them and I find a strong will power and Celebrity Slim and the 6 week programs at the gym helped me, since August (or maybe May) I have lost 11kg. Yes going to the gym tires me out but I want to set a postive example for my kids and showing them I do have struggles with weight and eating correctly and exercise will help that hopefully they never have that problem!

I used Duromine in June this year (ie. one 15mg/30 pill script) and lost a 10kg with no dramas. I had already been working on losing weight since the latter quarter of 2008 with mixed success - I'd come down from 127kg in October 2008 to a low of 116kg in February this year - then blew back out to 123kg by April and plateaud there.

I was lucky not to have significant "side effects" and for it's purpose Duromine worked perfectly. People need to stop taking it if they have adverse effects. People need to be careful not to UNDER eat. People need to be aware that drinking a lot of water - especially if they're not used to it - will very likely flush electrolytes out too.

Thumbs up

hi ladies

found this thread whilst looking for reviews on duromine...

i am aware that it is VERY hard to get in australia as it is very rarely prescribed.

i recently got the 30mg for one month from my doctor...and have had friends that have been on it. they only have good things to say about it...besides the cleaning obsession..the dry mouth and the rare lack of sleep.

i used to be quite big...cant remember exactly how many kg...but i know my weight has been my obsession since i was about 14. i managed to get to about 56kg wen i was 15 because i had enough of being fat. my weight was caused due to the medication i was on for my asthma...which consisted of steroids and medication that caused me to retain water. honestly, i lost my weight by really not a eating a lot if anything at all. REALLY small meals...and water.

i have now put on 10kg in one month..which is making me think that something is wrong. i am now 19...and weigh about 69kg...and about 165cm in height. I was about 59-60.5kg at the begining of 2010. so to me...something is really wrong.

genetically im not meant to be a small, petite person...but that shouldnt stop ANYONE that is not happy with their weight. i am naturally big boned...and still achieved my goal weight. i got to a size 6 in my waist...and a 10-12 in hips after being big. So it CAN happen. you just need motivation...and not medication.

so after my whole essay...im wondering....can anybody have any suggestions about what could be wrong?

and is Duromine 30mg for a month likely to help me lose 10- 13kg? (i know...its a lot...but 55kg is my goal weight.) But is it that likely to do permanent damage?

p.s - sorry bout the long long essay...but i hope it did help some girls out there that think they cant do it...
