Default Could John Howard Lose His Seat?

What does everyone think about this? I personally don't like Howard and would be happy to see him lose the election.

But if he does lose, do you think it's possible that he could also lose his seat to Maxine McKew? Everyone I've spoken to seems to like her and this is reflected in the opinion polls - the amount of support she's getting considering she is up against the PM (and in a fairly conservative electorate) is just amazing in my opinion.

you know Johnny H personally?

a couple of months ago I thought Maxine probably had a chance ... but now I'd say it's remote at best. When she announced that she was running against Johnny, she had tons of publicity & support ... but we've seen virtually bugger all about her since then.

It's a real shame actually - it would've been quite astonishing if the PM hadn't even managed to retain his own seat. From memory, it's only happened once in the history of Australia.

I also think it would've been a fairly smart strategy for the ALP to publicise the hell out of Maxine right in JH's own seat. He could've potentially been so busy just trying to retain his own electorate that it could've busted his efforts on the national front. The ALP might still do it later in the campaign ... but I'd say they won't & it's probably too late now anyway

I got this link by email today and it made me laugh so I wanted to share it.

Here's the quote that came with it (that I haven't quite been able to get my head around).

"Parody is a tough thing to pull off. Political parody is usually a smile that dies on the lips, or a concentrated study, as if one is walking on a plantar wart."

And here's the link.

So funny Crystal, hahahah one of the best I've seen in this campaign. I work in the Bennelong elelctorate, it's been amusing to see JH hanging around now when he's barely been sighted over 10 yrs. McKew was all over it, has been at the opening of an enevelope since she was selected.

There's a good article in the smh today about how Labor won in Bennelong:

They did some pretty sneaky stuff. I like the 888 phone number bit!
