Born on 25 March, 1965, Sarah Jessica Parker is an actress best known for playing Carrie Bradshaw on the hit TV show, Sex and the City. Parker was born in Nelsonville, Ohio, where she lived for a large portion of her childhood. Her family then moved to Cincinnati and Parker got her first taste of showbiz when she starred in The Little Match Girl, a 1974 television movie based on the original fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. She followed up this performance with roles in Broadway productions, The Innocents (1976) and then Annie (1979).

In 1982 Parker was cast in the TV show, Square Pegs, but it was cancelled after only one season. The rest of the 1980s saw her score film roles in Footloose (1984), Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), A Year in the Life (1986) and Flight of the Navigator (1986). She continued her film career into the ‘90s with appearances in L.A. Story (1991), Honeymoon in Vegas (1992), Hocus Pocus (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Miami Rhapsody (1995), Mars Attacks! (1996) and The First Wives Club (1996).

Darren Star offered Parker the role of Carrie Bradshaw in TV show, Sex and the City, in 1998, which went on to become her most well known role to date. Starring alongside Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon, Parker played Carrie until the show’s finale in 2004. Post-Sex and the City, Parker has starred in the films The Family Stone (2005) and Failure to Launch (opposite Matthew McConaughey, 2006). She is also due to star in the upcoming Sex and the City movie with her former co-stars.

Parker’s time on Sex and the City made her an international fashion icon, which she followed up with her own clothing line, Bitten, and two perfumes; “Lovely” and “Covet”. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for GAP clothing and Garnier and even has a Manolo Blahnik shoe named after her; the “SJP”.

Previously romantically involved with John Kennedy Jr., Robert Downey Jr. and Joshua Kadison, Parker is now married to fellow actor, Matthew Broderick. The couple tied the knot on 19 May, 1997, and have a son together, James Wilkie Broderick (born 28 October, 2002).
