Born in Los Angeles, California on 2 January, 1983, Kate Bosworth is an actress best known for her roles in the films Blue Crush, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! and Superman Returns. As a child and adolescent, Bosworth was actually more interested in becoming a horse racer and was an award-winning equestrian. It was her love of horses that prompted her to audition for Robert Redford’s film, The Horse Whisperer (1998). She scored a supporting role playing Judith, the best friend of Scarlett Johansson’s character, Grace.

Following this role, Bosworth scored small parts in films The Newcomers (2000) and Remember the Titans (2000). In 2000 she also played Bella Banks in the shortly-lived TV series, Young Americans. Bosworth’s first major role came in the form of Blue Crush (2002), a film about a female surfer. She followed this with lead roles in The Rules of Attraction (2002), Wonderland (2003), Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004), Beyond the Sea (2004) and Superman Returns (2006).

Bosworth dated actor Orlando Bloom from 2002 to 2006 and is now reportedly dating model James Rousseau. Bosworth has also attracted media attention due to a rumoured eating disorder after appearing at events looking alarmingly thin in 2006.
