Born in Newcastle, Australia on 22 December 1983, Jennifer Hawkins first became a household name when she took out the Miss Universe title in 2004. Hawkins represented her home town as an NRL cheerleader for the Newcastle Knights and was named the NRL’s “Cheergirl of the Year” in 2001, which launched her modelling career.

Hawkins modelled in various campaigns and competitions before eventually scoring her big break as the winner of the Miss Australia title. She went on to become Miss Universe in Ecuador on June 1 2004. After her year-long reign as Miss Universe, Hawkins became involved with Australia’s Seven Network and has appeared several times on The Great Outdoors as a guest presenter. Hawkins also participated in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars and features in Guy Sebastian’s music clip for “Elevator Love”.

Hawkins has worked as an ambassador for charities including the Global Health Council and YouthAIDS. She was also the centre of a highly publicised wardrobe malfunction when she made an appearance at Westfield Miranda in Sydney. Hawkins tripped on the hem of her skirt, leaving herself exposed in a red g-string in front of hundreds of fans and a few news cameras. She says her only regret is that she wasn’t wearing better underwear.
