Britney Jean Spears was born December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi and is historically the eighth best-selling American female artist. One of the world’s most famous pop music singers, Spears has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, with albums including ...Baby One More Time (1999), Oops!... I Did It Again (2000), Britney (2001), In The Zone (2003), Greatest Hits: My Prerogative (2004) and Blackout (2007). Having starred in a variety of television and film roles, Spears’ most notable film appearance came in 2002 with road trip movie Crossroads. Spears considers herself to be grounded despite relentless media invasion, playing up her small town roots, and declaring, "I don't want people kissing my butt. If I had a bad show and I know it, don't tell me I had a good show."

Spears’ personal life has previously been notable for her four-year relationship with 'N Sync member and solo artist Justin Timberlake and her brief marriage to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in January 2004 at a Las Vegas chapel (which was annulled after fifty-five hours). In April 2004, Spears met and began a relationship with Kevin Federline and the couple were engaged just three months later, after having appeared together in the reality television show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic. Spears has two sons with Federline, Sean Preston Federline and Jayden James Federline, but the couple’s marriage broke down in 2006 and Spears filed for divorce in November of that year. Following Spears’ well-documented personal problems in 2007, including drug rehabilitation, Federline was officially granted custody of the couple’s two children, with Spears also charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a licence.
