After regretfully declining three movie deals in 2008 for 'undisclosed personal reasons', and in the wake of her return to entertainment, 21 year old actress Elissa Sursara has been reportedly offered one hell of a welcome back from MTV - in the shape of her very own reality series.
The actress, whose animal rights activism has seen her favored by international animal aid PETA, returned to Australia last year, where her family have been living since relocating from the US. According to friends, the burgeoning starlet headed down under to be in close promiximity with her family whilst they dealt with a personal tragedy. Despite pulling out of potentially career making roles, the actress remained at the top of the casting pool with celebrity agent Max Marckson reportedly 'overwhelmed' by offers of work for the young star.
Starting as a child model in Brazil, Sursara found her footing on television after appearing on and off Brazilian tv, including a stint of soap orpera Malhacao and guest roles on several US films. In an interview with Russian Life in 2005, Sursara referred to herself as "kind of a part time actor," emphasizing the fact she remained in school and university whilst acting and stressed the importance of a solid education. Described by the magazine as 'shy, private and down to earth', the actress has not been without gossip and controversy; Previously linked to actors Emile Hirsch and Chace Crawford, aswell as television presenter Jason Dundas and model Didier Cohen, Sursara landed in hot water when she claimed to support the Animal Liberation Front (ALF), a group considered eco-terrorists for their radical approach to animal rights.
Though the starlet is yet to announce future work, a source close to the twenty-one year old maintains the offers are there. "She has only just begun to feel comfortable and happy after what her family has been through and in the short space of time between calling her agent and waking up the next morning, there were offers."
But what about the reality show? During an on air interview on Brazilian radio this week, Sursara, who has been in the country promoting environmental awareness of the Amazon stated that although she was hesistant at the invasion of privacy, "it's an exciting idea. Not to mention those people asking 'who the hell is she, anyways?' may then become familiar with me and want to follow my career.'
Says a source, "She's being advised to seriously consider the offer."
