Born Angelina Jolie Voight on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, actress Angelina Jolie is a former model, current Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency and is often cited as one of the world’s most beautiful women. Jolie currently attracts a great deal of media interest for her relationship with actor Brad Pitt, which began in 2005.

Winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award in 1999 for her role in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie has also won three Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Twice married, to actors Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, Jolie has three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as a biological daughter, Shiloh, with Pitt. Jolie’s adopted son Maddox is often accredited with inspiring the wave of adoptions of children from troubled nations by celebrities, perhaps most notably that of pop star Madonna and her Malawian son David Banda.

Jolie is often praised for her work with humanitarian causes, which she began upon personally witnessing problems in poverty-stricken Cambodia whilst filming Tomb Raider.
