Australian musician Alex Lloyd was born on the 1 September 1974 in Sydney, Australia and began singing and playing the guitar in pubs with his band, The Beefs at the age of 13. At the age of 16, Lloyd dropped out of school joining band Mother Hubbard.
In 1997, Lloyd released his first solo album Black the Sun receiving an Aria for Best Male Artist. In 2001, Lloyd released his second album, Watching Angels Mend also winning an Aria for Best Male Artist for that year. The song “Amazing” was voted song of the year by Triple J’s Hottest 100 poll in 2001 and also received an Apra Award in 2002 for Song of the Year and was one of the most played songs on Australian radio.
His third album, Distant Light was awarded an ARIA for Best Male Artist in 2003. He released the songs; “Coming Home”, “100 Miles” and “Beautiful”. In 2005, Lloyd released his self-title album and in 2006 performed on Australia’s Dancing with the Stars singing his hit song “Amazing”.
In February 2003, Lloyd married science student Amelia and in February 2004 they had son Jake Lloyd.
